The Motor City Gala, the official Gala of the Motor City “D” Drop  will draw an Upscale Crowd: Young Professionals, Singles, Couples & Groups are all encouraged to attend. In 2014 NYEdetroit is expanding our presence in Detroit from the Resolution Ball at the Fillmore, to assisting with the production and expanded footprint of the Motor City NYE: THE DROP at Campus Martius & Cadillac square. This free outdoor festival attracts 20,000 New Year’s Eve revelers for the “D’s” own version of the Ball Drop!  In addition, The Motor City Gala will be the Hotel Party Destination for over 1,000 guests each year.  Catering to the upscale young professionals that are living and working in the city and to suburbans who want to be in the middle of the action to celebrate ringing in the new year in style, The Motor City Gala is the next “big thing” Downtown this season.

NYEdetroit was the first in recent history to produce a Downtown New Year’s Eve party at the Fillmore back in 2007, well before it was “cool” to be in the “D” for pretty much anything!   The social Connection and NYEdetroit had a vision to bring people from the Suburbs to Detroit on New Year’s Eve and yep, a lot of folks scratched their heads.  “Back in 2007 the city was a ghost town on New Year’s Eve — Hotel Rooms were only $79 a night,” recalls event organizer, Regina Stocco, when the decision was made to move the Resolution Ball to the Fillmore after the event outgrew The Townsend, The Ritz Carlton an the Royal Park Hotels. It was a year of many firsts indeed. The Fillmore Detroit had just changed their name from decades of being know as The State Theatre and it was admittedly a struggle go get the first 700 people to attend but the rest is history. “It’s been a long and evolving road but we have stayed committed to our mission and are thrilled to have all of our efforts for New Year’s Eve for 2014 focused in the D.  We definitely help make the customer’s experience one to remember!”
